On September 10, 2019, Massimo Cavalletti will sing the role of Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro alla Scala, in a Grischa Asagaroff production under the musical direction of Maestro Michele Gamba, the first of a series of ten performances running through October 10, 2019. He will share the stage with Rosa Feola as Adina, René Barbera / Vittorio Grigolo as Nemorino and Ambrogio Maestri as Dulcamara.
Massimo Cavalletti debuted the role of the swaggering soldier at the Glyndebourne Festival in 2007, reprising it in later seasons at the NCPA Beijing, Teatro de la Maestranza Seville and the Zurich Opera, in this latter occasion in the same Asagaroff production. This is the third opera the Tuscan baritone is performing at the Teatro alla Scala in the 2018/2019 season, after Lescaut in Manon Lescaut and Francesco Moor in I masnadieri.
Following this Scala Elisir, Massimo Cavalletti’s upcoming engagements include his role debuts as Carlo V in Ernani at the Teatro Coccia Novara and Teatro Verdi Pisa, and as De Siriex in Fedora at the Teatro alla Scala, Conte di Luna at the Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa and Teatro Verdi Salerno, and Marcello in La bohème at the Teatro Regio Turin and Teatro Verdi Salerno.
